PayXpert - User documentation
PayXpress V3
This version of PayXpress was released in 2023.
New features
The following new features were available with this release.
Partial authorizations (and thus, Partial payments). On occasion, when we process a card, you may receive a response stating that the cardholder is partially authorized for the transaction, meaning that not the full amount but some of it can be processed at that time. This gives your shopper the opportunity to pay cash (e.g.) for the remaining balance, so that he or she can go home with the item.
Force sale operations. On occasion, when we process a contact or contactless payment, it may not go through for some reason but at the same time, you may receive a message on your POS asking you whether you want to force it at that point. This screen can appear before or after the authorization call.
This feature is not always available; the Force sale screen is only sent back when the bank decides. But it gives you the opportunity to go ahead with the transaction in cases where it has not gone through but is deemed safe anyway.
You can either force the authorization (if the Force sale screen is shown beforehand) or force the transaction (this requires your merchant PIN). The shopper is not affected by this feature: he does not have to present his card again. (However, for contact transactions, the card cannot be pulled out: this would lead to an automatic decline.)
If given both the choice to perform an authorization or directly force the transaction and you choose to force the sale and then do not input your PIN or if you cancel out during the PIN screen, we perform an authorization (this is the Carte Bancaire-defined workflow).
If only given the choice to force the transaction (we will have already performed the authorization ourselves, in that case) and you proceed but do not input your PIN in time or you cancel the PIN screen, then we save the transaction as declined.
Deferred debit transactions. On occasion, you might prefer to have the cardholder debited at a later date. Depending on the risk level he or she is willing to accept, he might prefer to be sure the cardholder has sufficient funds in their account, for example, which the cardholder might not have when presenting the card at your store.
For example, a trusted customer wants to make a large purchase. His or her balance is not high enough at the moment, but will be later on in the week. You can “make” the sale.
This type of transaction is not used too often, but it can be conducted on any debit card by selecting the option at the time of handling the POS.
Automatic language switching based on card. PayXpress detects when a foreign-issued card is being used and then changes the Enter PIN (or other) screen to the language of that country, when possible.
What’s more, we then print the ticket in that customer’s language 😉. If needed, we can even do it for offline transactions. English, Italian and French are supported at the moment.
In some cases we actually display text for the shopper in his preferred language and text for the merchant in the normal operating language at the same time (in two lines).
Finally, if a cardholder’s language is not available, we default the on-screen text back to EN.
Restaurant ticket card support. We’ve implemented a connection to the Conecs application, which processes restaurant ticket cards in France from several card brands:
Support for multiple Originators: now a POS can officially be used as more than one Originator, meaning that it can be used in different points of sale areas of a hotel or restaurant, for example, like at the rooftop bar and the gym. You just need to selects which Originator to use on screen. As per specifications, this selection must be done before the transaction. Then, during the Enter payment amount screen, we display the name of the Originator. However, you can choose a default Originator, accessing the Enter payment directly (thus not having to choose one each time) if desired. If you select an Originator and then leave your POS unattended (if you do not initiate a transaction), then after 1 minute you will need to select an Originator again.
Supported cards on the present card screen. We always show the logos of the card schemes you can accept:
